2019/05/24 11:00 Today's adventure continues. Walking by the canal. We saw squirrels, chipmunks, geese, and a heron. Elliott said it would be more fun if we left Grant at home.
2019/05/29 09:00 Elliott and I had breakfast at McDonald's this morning. A woman probably in her 40s in a sharp business suit sat across from us waiting for her order. Elliott asked her if she was a mom that had to go to work. Maybe not best to ask a woman her reproductive status but she was very nice and said yes and said it was a very good question.
I have a doctors appointment today. Elliott asked why. I said the doctor just has to make sure that I am okay. Elliott said you don't have to go to the doctor I think you are great. So, I got that going for me.

2019/06/10 09:00 Headed home. Leaving from the Fort Lauderdale airport.
2019/06/10 15:30 Not supposed to be here. They wouldn't let us land at LaGuardia. Running out of fuel so we landed here, Bradley International in Connecticut, to refuel. Won't let us off the plane. Don't know what happens next.
2019/06/10 16:15 Trapped in the plane here. I am in the first row behind first class. Water for us in economy. Champagne for first class.
2019/06/11 00:15 Leaving on a jet plane. WOO HOO. We are going to LaGuardia.
2019/06/11 04:15 Spent about 6 or 7 hours at Bradley International in Connecticut. They found a flight crew and we left at 12:30. Made it to LaGuardia about 1AM. Been trying to sleep on the floor here at the airport with little success. I have a confirmed flight at 8:00 that should get me home at 9:15. Only about 17 hours late. I guess there were a lot of delayed and diverted flights.
2019/06/11 15:00 I made it to the terminal at LaGuardia airport just after 1AM. Technically at that time the airport terminal is closed. While you don’t want to be there they don’t want you there either. You are kind of treated like a trespasser. Everyone stranded at the airport is rounded up and herded into one gate area. Everyone gets a thin blue blanket. When I got to the ‘overnight’ area the floor was already littered with blue lumps that in the dim lighting reminded me of the pods in a scene from “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”. Your status changes once it gets close to opening time. At opening time you are like the homeless person sleeping in front of the posh restaurant when they open their doors for business. C’mon folks let’s get up and shuffle on out of here. We have business to do here. There are paying customers coming to use this gate. Move along now and think about the life choices that may have brought you here. Oh, and you can keep your thin blue blanket. This seemed more like an ‘icky eww’ we don’t want to have to wash all those rather than a heartfelt gift. At bars everywhere after last call you will hear ‘you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here’. At the airport it’s no idea if we’re going to get you home but you can’t stay here either. I did get a confirmed flight and made it home just 17 hours late. Everyone I dealt with at Delta was very nice and helpful. I made it home and was pleasantly surprised that my checked baggage did too. While it was an ordeal it can’t change the fact that I had a great time in Florida, at the Hukilau, and at the Mai Kai. Saw a lot of old friends and made some new ones. Aloha!
2019/05/29 08:45 Marketing. Elliott saw the "Secret Life of Pets" in the park a few nights ago so we had to get the milk with Max on it.

2019/06/04 17:00 In 2 days I leave for Florida and my 8th trip to the Hukilau. My first Hukilau was in 2009, ten years ago. Was my first trip to the Mai Kai, saw the bands; The Intoxicators, Los Straightjackets, Haole Cats, Stolen Idol, and the Bikini Beachcombers. The Wreck Bar was being renovated and so MeduSirena Marina swam in the pool at the Bahia Cabana.
My 2nd Hukilau was in 2010. My wife Karen went with me for this one. The Neanderthals performed and Karen loved the band. The Wreck Bar was renovated and it was the first time I saw the swimshow there. I went to the Sarong-A-Rama fashion show.
Hukilau number 3 for me was in 2011.
Hukilau the 4th for me was 2012. Karen was with me again for this one.
What happened during my 5th Hukilau in 2013? The first named storm of the annual hurricane season in 2013 was named Andrea and she was born on June 5th. She made landfall in Florida on June 6th dumping a crap load of rain on Fort Lauderdale. The storm forced the Friday night party inside. The weather just got worse and worse. At one point the storm caused the airport in Fort Lauderdale to close. The most serious problems in the area that were a result of the tropical storm were flash flooding. A couple of times I was near a TV and each time I saw a PSA (public service announcement) about how to get out of a car caught in a flash flood. But, “we don’t run from hurricanes we drink them”.
Hukilau number 6 for me was 2014.
The last time I was at the Hukilau was my 7th time there in 2015.
2019/05/22 13:30 Working in the garden.
2019/05/04 12:00 Home Depot workshop.
This latest iteration of my rants and rambles will still be much like past versions. I will continue to share way too much information. I will continue to be as weird as always. I am most likely still incredibly boring.
2019/05/18 12:00 Cats at the mall.
With Will Anders in the Molokai Bar at the Mai Kai.
2019/06/08 22:00 I took a carving class with Will Anders. Carved a pendant and I wore it to the Mai Kai.
2019/06/03 09:00 I was hoping it might be a little warmer today. Be careful what you wish for I guess. Checked the weather channel and they are predicting temps to be 306 degrees F. in my neck of the woods. I would guess that means no rain - scalding steam maybe.
2019/06/08 12:00 Saturday morning at the Hukilau.
2019/06/14 08:15 Picked up my grandson this morning. I was drinking a cup of coffee while driving. Elliott said, "Be careful Pop and don't spill that. When I was your age I spilled stuff all the time."
“The world's favorite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May."
Edwin Way Teale
“I thought that spring must last forevermore; For I was young and loved, and it was May."
