2018/07/08 10:30 Notes from vacation: Day 1 - I fear I may lose my job as cabana boy. It seems that I fetch stuff slowly. The women commanding me seem rather crabby and devoid of humor. I think they have frozen slushy things that contain alcohol in the bar by the pool.

Cousins.

2018/07/01 17:00 Karen and I returned from Lake George today. Back at home.

Pineapple Dolewhip.

2018/07/13 13:00 Notes from vacation: Day 6 - Elliott took a PB&J sandwich from the room fridge. He decided it was too cold. He was very proud of the fact that he figured out on his own to put it on the table on the balcony to warm up in the sun. The bird that flew off with it was happy also.

The heat was oppressive and we came woefully unprepared.

2018/07/07 20:15 Back at Lake George this week after Ohana Luau at the Lake last week. Staying at Surfside.

2018/07/12 16:30 Notes from vacation: Day 5 - My daughter just figured out she can sign the room number in the bar. She tried to buy a frozen slushy thing and they carded her. I threw her wallet from the balcony of our room to the floor of the cabana bar below. I am an enabler correct?

Still very very hot. The sun is relentless.

Notes from vacation: Day 3 - During Ohana Luau at the Lake Karen was sick with conjuctivitis. She said there was no way she gave it to me as she was very careful.

2018/07/10 20:00 Notes from vacation: Day 3 - Responsibility weighs heavy on my soul. Whatever goes wrong on vacation I am ultimately responsible.

2018/07/08 14:30 Michael and his friend Meagan came to see us in Lake George. We went to the Moose Tooth Grill.

2018/07/12 12:30 Notes from vacation: Day 5 - Spent the day at the Magic Forest yesterday. Didn't get hats. I went back today to get hats. The girl working the front desk seemed 16 years old. She said I had to buy a ticket. I asked to speak to a manager. She got on the phone and an 18 year old girl came to the desk. Now, I can be somewhat memorable when encountered in the wild. Yesterday I was wearing a loud Hawaiian shirt, a bucket hat, and pants that were coming unstapled. The guy that seems in charge does the magic show and he wears red pants with a red shirt, black suspenders, and a big white beard. He picked me out of a crowd yesterday and started yelling at me, "Where the hell have you been? Weren't you supposed to take over for me?" So today the 18 year old girl walks up to the front desk and first thing she says is, "Hey, you were here yesterday." "Yes. And I didn't get any hats." She told the 16 year old to walk me up to the snack bar, get the keys for the gift shoppe, and sell me whatever I wanted. (That's how they spell it 'shoppe' - " Mission accomplished.

Grant was here last year but he was in utero.

This latest iteration of my rants and rambles will still be much like past versions. I will continue to share way too much information. I will continue to be as weird as always. I am most likely still incredibly boring.

2018/07/08 19:30 Notes from vacation: Day 1 - Notes from vacation: Day 1 - The needy women who complain said they don't feel they should refer to me as cabana boy anymore. They said I am too old and not attractive enough. Ouch.

Elliott got about as far away from that clown as he could.

We left the fort and headed over to the King's Gardens.

Eating dinner in the rooftop cabana bar.

“Summer has no day,' she said. 'We can't possibly have a summer love. So many people have tried that the name's become proverbial. Summer is only the unfulfilled promise of spring, a charlatan in place of the warm balmy nights I dream of in April. It's a sad season of life without growth...it has no day.”
― F. Scott Fitzgerald, This Side of Paradise

"Mosquito is out,
it's the end of the day;
she's humming and hunting
her evening away.
Who knows why such hunger
arrives on such wings
at sundown? I guess
it's the nature of things."
-  N. M. Boedecker, Midsummer Night Itch

2018/07/11 13:00 Notes from vacation: Day 4 - I am wearing new shorts here at the Magic Forest. My wife got me some new shorts before we left on vacation. She got them at the Rescue Mission. I am realizing that these were pants and someone cut the legs off and hemmed them with a stapler. Some of the staples are coming out.

2018/07/11 11:00 At the Magic Forest.
