2019/01/01 11:00 So we start a new year. Sometimes I seem to go to a dark place. Maybe not that dark. Maybe just a dim place. Low grade depression. I am trying to dig my way out. I haven't published anything on my website here for almost six months. No videos on my YouTube channel. I stopped putting stuff on my Instagram and I haven't posted to my Khan Tiki Mon's Bar and Lounge Facebook page. A lot of my construction projects have stalled and I haven't made anything that I think might pass as art. The weather depresses me. I had bought a pop-up to put over my saws. I use my table saw and miter saw outside. We had an unusually early winter. Some heavy snows destroyed my pop-up. That really bothered me. Karen wasn't sympathetic as it wasn't my first pop-up destroyed by bad weather. I feel childish letting it get me so upset. People have lost everything in hurricanes, tornadoes, and wildfires. I am sure that I couldn't cope.Well, we are turning all this around. That's the plan. I have eight videos done for my YouTube channel. I will be posting one every Thursday - that will take me through February. I am going to publish at least four pages on the website. I am determined to get back on track with the construction projects. Let us see what happens.
2019/02/19 11:30 Had an amazing time in Atlanta and at Inuhele. Saw old friends and made new ones. Now back to reality and my day job - watching the little rugrat. Here we are seconds away from disaster - just a little couch surfin' dude.
2019/02/02 09:30 The truly horrible deadly killer deep freeze that we experienced courtesy of the polar vortex has passed. We are now just left with the regularly scheduled simply horrible cold and dreariness that is February. I am going to Atlanta in a few days and hopefully the weather there will be a little nicer. Tomorrow is the Super Bowl. Not planning on watching. If I don't watch it will be the first time in probably twenty years or more that I haven't watched the big game. I don't have cable anymore having cut the cord. Last year I watched using our antenna. There was a storm and the picture was constantly being pixelated. I really just don't care to watch the game.
2018/01/20 10:00 Winter Storm Harper. That's what they are calling this storm that is pounding us. Over 4,000 flights cancelled. We could get 1 1/2 to 2 feet of snow. And the coldest temperatures so far this Winter. I really hate this weather. I am lucky though because I don't have to go out for anything. If I do go out it will be because I decided to not because I have to.
I am not going to CATT (Chicago Area Tiki Tour) this year. I got shut out on a ticket. Not happy about that. Better news I am going to a Tiki event in February in Atlanta.

2019/02/18 12:00 Got up at 4AM. Got an Uber at 4:30. Airport at 5 where it was surprising to me how busy it was. Boarded the plane at 7 and then we sat there for over an hour. We had too much fuel and had to be defueled.
So this never happened when I was a kid. Can I borrow the car to go to the movies? Yes, but there is too much gas in it so don't add any. In fact maybe you should siphon some out before you go.
I have a crazy stupid 12 hour layover here in Charlotte. Right now there are 2 twelve or thirteen year old girls sitting near me. They are playing a guessing game - I am thinking of a character. One girl "Does your character want to build a wall?"

2019/02/14 13:30 Quick layover on my journey to Atlanta and Inuhele. In all my days, until today, I had never flown First Class. I guess one could get used to it. I remember once being in Economy when an announcement was made that we weren't allowed to use the First Class restroom. I remember thinking that seemed unfair and unjust. Now sitting in First Class I am saying I don't want those unclean heathen bastards using my toilet. Those huddled masses in the rear of the plane need to remember their place. Of course on my return trip next Monday I will be back in Economy. The same people you see on the way down are the same people you met on the way up. Am I correct my Peeps?

2019/02/15 12:15 Life has big disappointments and small disappointments. I feel like sharing one of my small disappointments today. I like to use a stylus on the touch screen of my phone. My fingers are perhaps too fat and therefore not as accurate as I would like. I bought this awesome cool (I thought) Rick and Morty pen at Five Below that had a stylus on one end. First off, as soon as I put it in my pocket the stylus part got bent. To open the pen it is a twist mechanism that doesn't lock so when I try to write with it the pen part keeps retracting. And then most annoying of all the picture of Rick and Morty on the pen, the reason I bought the pen, has almost completely worn off. Very disappointing. Hanging out in the hotel lobby waiting for the VIP registration for Inuhele to open at 1:00PM.

Best bet is that it is going to be warmer in Atlanta than it is here in the land of sometime ice and snow. I am still deciding whether I am going to the Hukilau this year or not. I went to the Hukilau in Fort Lauderdale for seven years in a row beginning in 2009. I have missed the last three years. If I go this year it would be the tenth anniversary of my first trip. Thinking that I really should go. I need some time at the Mai Kai, my happy place.

Of course if I cared about such things I would hold the video until the end of the year. The Hollywood studios hold their Oscar contenders until year end so that they are fresh in the minds of the Academy voters.

2019/02/13 09:45 I have been driving for more than a few years. The ice that encased my vehicle this morning was the worst I have ever seen. Chipping away at the ice on my van was an ordeal. If I didn't have to make the perilous journey north to get my grandsons and bring them to the safety of my hearth and home I wouldn't have gotten out of bed. I leave tomorrow morning for Atlanta where I hope there will be less snow and ice.

2019/01/06 09:00 Yesterday Alice and I watched the movie "Wreck It Ralph" on DVD. When the movie was over we got up off the couch and went to the theater and saw "Ralph Breaks the Internet". "Wreck It Ralph" is a great movie. "Ralph Breaks the Internet" even better. Both movies get 5 out of 5 stars.
