Khan Tiki Mon, aka Scott, behind the bar at Jack McGroarty's circa 1985 or 1986. While I loved working in the hospitality industry I felt I needed something more “steady and reliable”. Lured by the promise of benefits I crossed over to the dark side and became ensnared in the gaping maw of the Evil Empire. I became a denizen of the soul crushing cubicle hell that is the Evil Empire. Daily the poor and tortured souls held in the belly of that beast prostitute their souls for the coin that they have become addicted to. I guess we do what we have to. Bartending and the art of mixology are now just hobbies for me. On this page I will have cocktail recipes that have been tried and proved out by me as well as some general information on stocking and maintaining a first class home bar. Cheers!
After working my way up to manager at Scratch’s I left to become a bartender and bar manager at Jack McGroarty’s. McGroarty’s was an Irish pub.
I left the liquor store and went to work at Scratch Daniel’s Restaurant. At the time Scratch’s was the most popular bar and night spot in the city.
That is not me in the ad above. That is Chuck Mara the "wine merchant". I was working for Green Hills when the owner set a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records for his purchase of a bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild.
I worked in the hospitality industry from the late 1970s through most of the 1980s. First I worked in retail liquor and wine sales at Green Hills Liquor Supermarket. Here I learned quite a bit about liquor and wine.
