Peace out.
The headline in the paper told us that it had rained 41 days out of the last 67. And the days when it didn't rain everything was still wet.
Wrong Summer picture.
2017/06/12 10:00 Happy birthday to me. The big six-oh. I don't feel that old.
Summer is here. June is the first Summer month and it’s time to celebrate Summer.
2017/06/03 23:00 We ended a busy day with a fire in the Tiki fire bowl. And smores.
2017/06/30 09:00 Tristan is helping me watch Elliott this morning. Tristan says, "Pop you can barely control this baby at the house and we are taking him to the mall?"
We have had a lot of rain but are still behind the record set in 1976.
This latest iteration of my rants and rambles will still be much like past versions. I will continue to share way too much information. I will continue to be as weird as always. I am most likely still incredibly boring.
My Kingsford offset charcoal/ wood smoker. My Weber kettle grill and 2 portable Webers.
2017/06/11 18:30 Thoroughly enjoying my last day as a fifty-something. I wanted a place to put my grills. Three sheets of 3/4 inch pressure treated plywood. I slapped together a quick 2x4 frame and set everything on blocks. Skirted it with fence boards and stained everything. My mother-in-law said my grills look like an episode of "American Pickers". I took it as a compliment but who knows...
We ran into an old friend, Kimberly Anne Kelly. Her son Brandon is photobombing.
2017/06/08 21:30 Karen and I had dinner at St. Sophia's Greek Cultural Festival.
Chillaxin'
The regulars, the old-timers, that hang out at Panera know Elliott. My first time there with Tristan. They made comments about me having two kids tagging along now. I said it is like anything in life; if you do a good job at something you will be rewarded with more work.
2017/06/10 18:00 Family wedding today. My mother-in-law was dismayed with my choice in footwear. "You are wearing sneakers?" No. They're Vanns. My wife gave them 2 thumbs up! Love my wife.
From Jessica Cline.
2017/06/14 16:15 Karen and I drove to Conshohocken, PA. We delivered Karen's Mom to her brother Dave. We met at IKEA.
2017/06/11 17:45 And so an era in American history comes to end today. This is my last day in my fifties.
2017/06/01 16:00
2017/06/23 12:00
2017/06/03 14:30 Zoo Camp today at the Rosamund Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park.
Off Genesee Street on the way to Wegmans.
2017/06/20 12:00 Today our little Alice graduated from Kindergarten.
2017/06/14 19:00 After we left IKEA we met Scott Hays for dinner and craft beers at Fingers Wings and Other Things.
Treated Tristan to a chair massage. He decided because he was the wrong size it was more like a torture chair.
2017/06/04 15:00 It is another rainy rainy day today. I asked Alice, “Do you want to take a walk in the rain with me?” She said, “Sure.” I love it that my favorite granddaughter will walk in the rain with me. We walked by the canal. We decided that we both like the sound of rain on our umbrellas. We saw some pretty flowers and some birds.
2017/06/17 20:00 We had an unscheduled visit from Adison and Elliott today. Karen and Adison went to JoAnn's to get some stuff so Elliott could make a Father's Day gift for Mark. They asked if I could watch Elliott while they went shopping. No need. Tristan got Elliott some muffins to eat and put on Sesame Street for him.
The shark display in the lobby had nothing to do with "Captain Underpants".
Riding the alligator.
Karen in a Scott sandwich.
At the Allnight Eggplant. Elliott ate a pancake bigger than his head.
Cousins watching videos on the i-pad.
2017/06/18 12:00 Post on Facebook from Adison: Happy Father's Day!! I love you! Never a dull moment :) Life would be super boring without you!
2017/06/09 08:00 It rained again last night. I woke up about six or so and everything was wet. So super annoying.
2017/06/26 15:30 From the silent auction at Ohana Luau at the Lake I won this pendant by Wendy Cevola. I have long admired her work which I have only seen on her Facebook page and on Tiki Central. Now I have one of her pieces. It is a huge pendant. I wore it to the luau Saturday night. I had the biggest pendant in the room and I am afraid there was a lot of pendant envy. Thank you for your donation Wendy and for helping out the EIF (Easter Island Foundation). A big Mahalo.
2017/06/18 16:00
After muffins we went to play outside.
2017/06/06 18:00 It has been raining a lot.
New friends this year. New Ohana!!
2017/06/02 19:30
Almost a full moon and the moonlight shines through the trees.
2017/06/06 05:00 Why am I up so early in the morning? Yes, I set my alarm for 5 in the morning. Robert has a friend in town that needs to catch a Greyhound this morning so he can make it home. I am driving him to the bus station. It is supposed to rain again all day long.
2017/06/01 06:30 It is the first day of June and so for me that is the first day of Summer. Let the Summer of 2017 commence.
Contentment. Peace out.
2017/06/27 09:30 I spent this past weekend at the Tiki Motor Inn in Lake George for Ohana Luau at the Lake. The best weekend of the year and I always come back home energized and inspired. I have been threatening since the end of last year that I was starting a YouTube channel. I operate on island time for sure but it has been six months and nothing. I have been teaching myself Adobe Premiere Elements for video editing and I know enough to start publishing. I did six months ago. So, the plan is to start something before my inspiration fades. Hopefully you will see something in the coming weeks.
Today's secret word is COVFEFE! You remember what to do when someone says the secret word, right? Scream real loud!!!
Summertime, and the livin’ is easy
Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high
Oh, your daddy’s rich and your ma is good lookin’
So hush little baby, Don’t you cry
“Summertime” lyrics by George Gershwin
Well, I built me a raft and she's ready for floatin'
Ol' Mississippi, she's callin' my name
Catfish are jumpin', that paddle wheel thumpin'
Black water keeps rollin' on past just the same
Old black water, keep on rollin'
Mississippi moon, won't you keep on shinin' on me?
Yeah, keep on shinin' your light
Gonna make everything
Pretty mama, gonna make everything all right
"Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers
2017/06/02 16:00 Karen, Adison, and I took Elliott to the Taste of Syracuse downtown.
From Ted Brannon.
Who was the coolest, hippest guy at the Taste of Syracuse? My man Elliott! That's who.
2017/06/22 18:00 Arrived in Lake George for Ohana Luau at the Lake. Used the GPS for the trip here. We were on the Northway 87 and the GPS said we were 9 minutes from our destination. I told Karen I don't need the GPS from here. Turned it off and got off at the wrong exit and turned the wrong way. Drove aimlessly for an hour in the Adirondacks lost in the woods unable to get a signal and reconnect to the GPS. Karen looked up the word 'hubris' to see if it described my folly. She decided no it didn't because there was no arrogance on my part; I am just an idiot.
2017/06/16 19:45 I got my oil changed in the van on Wednesday before driving to Pennsylvania. There was a sign saying that Valvoline was the official oil of the ‘Transformers’. This has been bothering me for days. Does Optimus Prime drink the Valvoline like a breakfast drink? Or, does he apply it topically like Vaseline Intensive Care? However the Transformers use Valvoline does it relate in any way to how I use it?
The Blackstone Patio Pizza Oven.
2017/06/03 16:45 Robert and I took Tristan and Alice to see the "Captain Underpants" movie.
Pizzas made on my Blackstone Patio Pizza Oven. One cheese, one pepperoni, and one Hawaiian. The Hawaiian is fresh pineapple and spam. It's what is for lunch.
We haven't been to Panera here for a little while. Busy with other adventures. Caused quite a stir when we entered. "Elliott where have you been?"
Great minds don't just think alike they protect their brains with metal hats.
"Under the Sea".
2017/06/05 15:00 The rains were incredible around noon today. It was like what I would imagine a monsoon to be.
2017/06/13 09:00 Breakfast with my little bubby.
Alice helped Elliott with his Father's Day project.
2017/06/26 15:00 From the silent auction at Ohana Luau at the Lake I won these tiles made by Janet LuRu Rudawsky. We have an old kitchen cabinet, a top cabinet, with glass doors that Karen bought on craigslist. I have put feet on it and plan to put a tile top on it; these two tiles will be the centerpiece. I am going to finish it with spar varnish to hopefully make it somewhat weather resistant. I won't leave it out over Winter. I will post pictures of the cabinet when I finish it. Thanks LuRu for your donation. A big Mahalo.
2017/06/12 23:30 I got lots of birthday wishes on Facebook today. Here's a small sample.
2017/06/22 23:00
From Jorge Spahn.
Charbroil gas grill.
2017/06/15 08:45
From Ruth Eason Hooper.
2017/06/18 13:30 I got a very nice Father's Day gift from my grandson Tristan. I am not sure that is what he intended but that is how I took it. He said, "Pop, I know how much you like making me happy. You could take me to Toys R Us and get me this super cool Ben 10 watch that all my friends have." It did make me happy!!
2017/06/01 12:00 COVFEFE
Downtown Lake George.
2017/06/11 15:00
We had a late lunch at IKEA.
Tristan wants to learn to play the guitar.
